Crispy Delicious Poha Chivda

Poha Chivda is spicy and crunchy snack can made any time. It is easy to make and has a very good shelf life.

Our Diwali is incomplete without this. I will share the recipe with you.

  • 1/2kg Thin Poha
  • 1/4 Cup Ghee or Oil
  • 1 tsp Mustard seeds
  • 1 tsp Cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp Fennel seeds (Badishep)
  • Pinch of Asafetida
  • 7 to 8 Chopped Green Chilies
  • 10/12 Curry leaves
  • 1/2 Cup Peanuts
  • 1/2 Cup Daliya
  • 1/2 Cup Broken Cashew nuts
  • 1/2 Cup Sliced Coconut
  • 1 tsp Powdered Sugar
  • Salt to taste.

Method:

  1. In the heavy bottom pan roast poha on slow flame to make it crispy. When it shrinks slightly, remove from the pan and keep aside. 12200910_10207891117986695_1341360995_n-1
  2. In the same pan heat oil on slow flame.
  3. Add  Mustard seeds, it will start spluttering after that add Cumin seeds and Fennel seeds and Asafoetida.

  5. Add Peanuts, Daliya, Broken cashew nuts and sliced coconut .

  7. Add Poha, Powdered Sugar and Salt, mix everything well. Roast everything on slow flame for two mins. 12218120_10207891116746664_706502517_o-1

Let Chivda cool for some time. Store in airtight container.

How to make Crispy Namak Pare (Khari Shankarpali)…

My kids favourite snack Namak pare (Khari Shankarpali ) .

It is easy to make, crispy snack recipe. Make and enjoy with cup of tea.

Ingredients :

  • 1 cup All purpose flour (Maida)
  • 1/4 teaspoon Black pepper powder 
  • 1/4 teaspoon Cumin seeds
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • Oil for deep frying
  • Water as required

Method:

  1. Take all purpose flour, cumin seeds, black pepper powder and salt in a bowl. Mix well.
  2. Add oil, Mix well till get crumbly texture.
  3. Now add little water at a time and start kneading the dough. Dough should not be too tight or soft.
  4. Cover the dough and let it rest for 30 minutes.

  6. Other side heat the oil in a pan on slow or medium heat for frying namak pare.
  7. Once again knee the dough. Divide it and make big circle with rolling pin.

  9. Cut into diamond or square shape using cutter or knife.

  11. Keep pieces on dry cloth.

  13. Fry till it become golden brown on slow flame.

  15. Then can keep in a airtight container.
  16. Enjoy with tea !!!!!
